Arkeya’s Day is a very important celebration here in Ducentae. On that day our first leader overthrew the former tyrant, took the power and made Ducentae a paradise for women. Something never seen before.

THE DARK YEARS OF DUCENTAE

A few years ago, a brave young woman from our country stood up to one of the most powerful tyrants on the face of the earth. This young woman, until then unknown, was none other than Arkeya.

Until then the ruler of Ducentae was Helix the Tyrant. The years of his governance were the worst years for the inhabitants of our country, but especially for women. At that time women did not have the right to vote, they could not meet in groups in public or private spaces, every woman had to be married to a man, they did not have the right to work...

In short, women were slaves to men and their laws. They had no freedom.

THE LIGHT

But amidst this dark atmosphere, a dim light shone in the distance. A group of women, who were breaking the law, were meeting every week at different locations to avoid being caught. These women called themselves The Liberators. They were women aware of the situation they were living in, sick and tired of the patriarchal dictatorship that Helix had created.

The news and suspicions about The Liberators only spread throughout the country but not many women joined the group at that moment. Most of them did not do so for fear of punishment if they were caught, or even the outburst their husband might get.

As the years of training, talks, and planning in the shadows went by, The Liberators were able to carry out their masterpiece, also called: the fall of the tyrant.

During the years that they were in the shadows, several events occurred that were unexplained and that initially made no sense. Ducentae has never been a country with much military strength, but there are some army positions in the country. During these years these military posts were looted but as it is a country with a high crime rate, they never paid much attention to it.

THE BIG DAY

As every year on the first Saturday in December, Helix called all its officers to plan for the coming year. It was the only day of the year when all the officers and rulers met in the capital. It was the perfect time to attack.

Thanks to all the years of training and the clandestine assemblies and meetings organized by The Liberators, finally thousands and thousands of women joined in on this great day. They left behind their fears and saw that together everything would be possible. And so, more than 100,000 women across the country armed themselves and took to the streets.

In the capital, more than 50,000 women gathered in front of the Conclave Building. While the guards tried to resist this army of women, Arkeya together with two other liberators and very good friends, Praia and Mertia snuck into the building. Together they were able to reach the officers and these unarmed and with no other option, they could not do anything but surrender.

However, Arkeya approached Helix and pointed his rifle at his head. She already had it. That which she had dreamed of for so many years was in her hands. She just needed to kill him. But at the last moment, she changed her mind. She preferred to leave him alive, imprisoned for life so that he could see how those women he had so despised could build a world in which they would never be ignored again.

And it was at that moment that the army waiting outside managed to enter the building. The guards gave up as many of these women were his relatives.
